A Brazilian, named Vitor de Matos, aged just 34, was found dead in the apartment where he lived in the city of Philadelphia, in the United States. The body was found by friends, who had found Vitor’s disappearance strange. The cause of death has not yet been clarified. The family tries to bring the body back to Brazil. Vitor de Matos was born in Goiás. And he had lived in the United States for more than five years.
The information of the Brazilian’s death was given by his uncle, on Monday, 22, to the Office of International Affairs of Goiás. Vitor would soon complete six years of living in the United States, working in civil construction, according to his family.

Vitor’s brother posted a photo of him on the social network and wrote, regretting what happened. “That’s how I’ll always see you, well dressed, handsome and serious. God took you to a better place. Why? Because he is God, he gives life and takes it away. If he wanted it that way, it’s because your journey here on earth has come to an end. Sorry not to be by your side. Rest in peace. See you one day my brother. Love you man”.
The Government of Goiás, through the Office of International Affairs, is in contact with Vitor’s family, since when he was informed of the death of the native of Goiás. According to the folder, the government will be able to pay the entire amount regarding the transfer of the body, as determined by law, but it will help the family through the Funeral Assistance Program. Program that aims to help people from Goiás when they are victims abroad. The “Funeral Assistance” is supported by Law No. 17,107.
The law establishing the program determines that, when the family opts for the transfer of bones or bodies, the financial aid will be limited to the cost of cremation services and the transfer of ashes. Vitor’s uncle told G1 that it was his nephew’s friends who found him lifeless after they found him missing. Vito had missed work, no longer answered phone calls, or even received messages. The friends went to the apartment, called Vitor, but he didn’t answer. Friends broke into the door and found him dead in the room.
The uncle also says that the family has help through donations in order to carry out the transfer of the body. According to him, the family’s wish is to bring Vitor’s body to Brazil for the farewell, not the cremation. G1 sent an email to the Philadelphia police to find out about an investigation into the death of the Goiano, however, the site did not receive a response. So far, the cause of Victor’s death is unknown. Vitor leaves two children, who live in Professor Jamil, a city where his mother and relatives also live.
