Family recognizes Jeff Machado’s body in the IML; cause of death could not be determined | metropolises

Missing since January, the actor’s body was found inside a concrete trunk and buried in the back of a land in Rio de Janeiro

The family of actor Jeff Machado was at the Legal Medical Institute of Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday (5/25), to recognize the artist’s body. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the forensic report described the cause of death as “undetermined”.

According to lawyer Jairo Magalhães, the body had a metal rope around the neck and hands. “He was taken out of the trunk with his hands tied behind his back and with metal wire around his neck. He did not know if this was the cause of death due to the state of decomposition of the body. But all the details are being investigated,” he said.

Jairo Magalhães also revealed that a kind of liquid would have been passed on Jeff’s body. Police believe it to be something to minimize the smell of the decomposing body.

Maria das Dores, mother of Jeff Machado, said she didn’t have the courage to go in to see her son’s body. The recognition was made by the lawyer and her other son. “I didn’t have the courage to go in to see the body. My other son went into the room with the lawyer to do the reconnaissance. It’s very sad what’s going on. Jeff died a gruesome death,” she said.

With the cause of death unclear, for security reasons, the body will not be able to board a commercial flight, and will travel from Rio de Janeiro to the city of Araranguá, in Santa Catarina, by car on the morning of this Friday (26/ 5). The wake will take place on Saturday (27/5).

Jeff Machado had been missing since January 27th and was only found by the police last Monday. The actor’s body was buried and concreted in the back of a house in Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio, two meters deep.
