the japanese automaker toyota released a new version of the car Vitz entry point in emerging markets. The name of this model was used by the brand from 1999 to 2019 and was changed by the nomenclature Yaris in Japan and the rest of the world.
The new hatch from the Toyota costs US$ 9,990, which is equivalent to R$ 49,418 by direct conversion and without Brazilian taxes. The Vitz will debut in South Africa this month, and may arrive in other emerging markets on the continent in the next.
What about Brazil? There is no confirmation from the automaker about a possible arrival of the Toyota Vitz to our national market, not even a price estimate for the entry-level car. It is worth mentioning that the return of popular cars is on the agenda of the Brazilian government.
This Thursday (25), the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and ServicesGeraldo Alckmin, announced a tax cut to reduce, by up to 10.96%price of cars up to R$ 120 thousand.
Returning to the Toyota Vitz, as pointed out by the Vrum website, the car is actually a version of the 2022 Celerio, Suzuki’s popular hatchback made in India. In practice, the two models do not differ in almost anything, only in the front grille emblems.
The Vitz is equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 67 hp of power and 9 kgfm of torque. The transmission is manual with five speeds, but there is also an automatic option with five speeds. The model has a wheelbase of 2.43 m.
The interior of the new Toyota Vitz is simple, as is to be expected for a car of this category. The dashboard is analogue, with a small screen for the on-board computer. The window controls are on the panel next to the hazard warning lights and the central lock.
