The Boulieu Museum will host the “Chamber Music” Series, a project by the Ouro Preto Orchestra that brings together great talents of music from Minas Gerais for intimate presentations, full of excellence and versatility. The first performance in Ouro Preto will be by Duo Miter, which brings together pianist Luísa Miter and percussionist Natália Miter on stage. The concert takes place on May 31, at 8 pm, with free admission. Maestro Rodrigo Toffolo is curated and the program throughout the year provides for the presentation of a series of duos, trios and quartets formed by artists who are a reference in their instruments and stand out in the universe of symphonic or popular music.

Together since the beginning of their musical careers, still in their childhood, the artists that make up the Duo built an intense musical connection that is reflected in their performances and creations. 2021, the album “Seiva”, winner of the II Prêmio da Música Popular Mineira in the category “Best Instrumental Album”, whose songs are part of the repertoire that will be presented alongside compositions by women instrumentalists such as Chiquinha Gonzaga, Lea Freire and Tânia Maria, seeking thus valuing the female production of instrumental music.

“This formation of vibraphone and piano, or piano and percussion, is really fun and challenging because it’s more minimalist to perform so many musical elements. But we don’t lack references, which are our inspirations, such as the duo of Naná Vasconcelos and Egberto Gismonti or that of Gary Burton and Chick Corea”, points out Natália Mitre. “And it ends up bringing a more intimate relationship with the public as well. Throughout the show, we tell the story of the songs and try to bring our story closer to the audience that is watching us”, completes the percussionist.

The “Chamber Music” project continues the partnership between Orquestra Ouro Preto, Instituto Cultural Vale and Museu Boulieu. The curatorship meets the vocation of the space located at the entrance of the historic city, valuing traditions and baroque art, without losing sight of the contemporary look.
