A 61-year-old man was found dead, with marks of beating, in the early hours of Thursday (22), in Vila Proost de Souza, Chapadão region, in Campinas. Amilton Roberto Hizzung Vasconcelos lived alone in a house at the front of the land, while an acquaintance lived in a room at the back. He was taken to the police station, where he testified and was released. The crime will be investigated by the 3rd Police District (DP) together with the Homicide and Protection of Persons Police Station (DHPP).
According to neighbors, Vasconcelos was an alcoholic, but he had brothers and nephews, one of whom was the owner of part of the property, who let the victim live there. The property was the result of inheritance.
Still known, Vasconcelos had the habit of receiving several people at home, almost every night, for drinks. “He was very weak. Yesterday (Wednesday) he fell on the sidewalk of the street, as he was going to the bar. He didn’t get hurt, but he went back to his house and didn’t come out again,” said a neighbor.
The victim’s body was found in the living room of the residence with marks of aggression on the head, around 3:50 am. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) team that was at the scene also found a fracture in the rib.
There are reports that, from time to time, there were fights between the group that met at the victim’s house. The tenant, who was caring for the elderly man, commented on an argument and detention in May. At the time, he was detained by the Military Police with a knife, in a fight with a man.
