Entities in the milk production chain met this Thursday to discuss the instability of prices paid to ranchers, which has been causing damage to the sector, according to the Federation of Agricultural Workers (Fetag-RS). In a note, the president of the entity, Carlos Joel da Silva, says that, if there is a new reduction in values, the producers will mobilize.

At the last Conseleite meeting, on August 23, the reference price for a liter of milk projected for last month dropped 14.8%, to R$2.8157. Fetag-RS estimates a reduction of 17.65% for the product delivered in August and paid for on September 15th. The fall is attributed by the entity to the importation of milk from Argentina and Uruguay, to logistical disadvantages in the transport of the product and also to the offer policy adopted by supermarket chains.

Among the measures discussed at the meeting, the creation of a working group was defined, in addition to a new meeting, in early October, to prepare a document with guidelines for the sector to be delivered to candidates for the state government. In addition to Fetag-RS, representatives of the Organization of State Cooperatives (Ocergs), the Union of Dairy Industries (Sindilat), the Association of Small and Medium Dairy Industries (APIL), the Central of Workers of the Brazil (CTB-RS) and the unions that make up the State Milk Commission.
