Ninja Theory has released a long video dedicated to psychosis and how it is handled in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The video features psychiatrists and members of the development team, who talk about the work done to bring it to life on screen, so that players could experience and understand it better.

Note that there are also many game sequences that best exemplify the discussion. The speakers are Paul Fletcher from Ninja Theory, Bernard Wolfe, neuroscientist from the University of Cambridge and other professionals linked to the world of psychiatry and beyond. Watch it because it’s very interesting.

The video makes us understand that Senua lives a different reality than others: she sees and hears things that others don’t notice, as we will then understand well even when playing. Her psychosis causes her to experience auditory and visual hallucinations, which will also be experienced during the game.

It is reiterated that his reality is shaped by his past traumatic experiences, as was also told in the first episode. Despite her psychosis, Senua manages to maintain some control and carry out her mission with stoicism.

In the video it is then explained that the game explores the duality of experienced reality by those experiencing psychosis. Senua, therefore, interacts with people who do not see what they experience and don’t understand her perspectivewhich is completely different from theirs because it is altered.

It is then confirmed that binaural audio and voice performances will make the experience more immersive. The overall goal of the game is to make those who have not yet experienced it better understand the effects of psychosis by bringing it to life on screen through game systems.
