Over the past few weeks, Microsoft Gaming has released several games on PlayStation 5 and PS4, consoles that it previously considered rivals, but which are now serving as a way to expand the audience by reaching titles from its internal studios.

Sea of Thieves, originally released in 2018, arrived on PS5 six years later and was the best-selling game in April on the PlayStation Store in Europe, 3rd in the United States and Canada. Grounded, originally released in 2020, arrived on PS5 and PS4 four years later and is also among the 10 best-selling games on Sony’s digital store.

This demonstration of interest in Xbox games that the PlayStation community is showing leaves Microsoft Gaming encouraged with its initiative, but Sarah Bond, Xbox leader, assures that they will analyze each possibility individually.

During Bloomberg’s most recent technology summit, Bond was asked about this decision and whether PlayStation gamers really want to play Sea of Thieves, which led Bond to share her excitement at the initial results.

“We are in the early days, I don’t have anything specific to share yet, but we are very encouraged by the reception at our games. One thing that I think is important to take into account. Xbox has been putting games on other platforms for a long time. Minecraft is universally available, teams at Bethesda, ABK have games on other platforms,” he began by responding.

“It’s a decision we make game by game as we move forward and continue to execute our strategy.”
