Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League disappointed Warner Bros. Discovery, in the amount of an impairment charge of US$200 million.

Reporting its first quarter financial results, Warner Bros. Discovery said its gaming revenue declined significantly as a result of a tough comparison with last year’s best-selling video game, Hogwarts Legacy. Suicide Squad: Kill Justice “generated significantly lower revenues” compared to those generated by Hogwarts Legacy during the same three-month period, the company said.

Additionally, in an investor-focused follow-up call, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav called the launch Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League of “disappointing”.

“Starting with the studios, the decline of over $400 million year over year during the first quarter was primarily due to the very difficult comparison we faced in games against the success of Hogwarts Legacy last year in the first quarter, in conjunction with the disappointing launch of Suicide squadleading to an impact of US$200 million on EBITDA [lucros antes de juros, impostos, depreciação e amortização] during the first quarter,” Wiedenfels said.

It’s not the first time Warner has said sales were bad. In February, the company commented that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not reach the expected target.
