Microsoft revealed its latest financial report and showed that it made a lot of money in the first three months of 2024, despite a 31% drop in Xbox hardware sales.
During this period, the company launched several games in PlayStation 5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions, as part of a new strategy for its future, in which it will consider the benefits of launching Xbox Game Studios games on platforms until now considered rivals.
According to Satya Nadella, the new strategy more than paid off as he even says that they were the best publisher on PlayStation during the current month of April, marked by the launch of games such as Grounded and Sea of Thieves, after Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush in end of March.
“We are expanding our games to new platforms by releasing four of our fan favorites on Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told investors.
“In fact, earlier this month we had 7 games in the top 25 best sellers on PlayStation Store, more than any other publisher.”
Nadella highlights this achievement by Xbox and shows how Xbox releases managed to generate interest among PlayStation players, who can enjoy 4 of the most praised games by the Xbox community without purchasing another console or equipment.
