During State of Play last Wednesday (31), Konami released big news for the Silent Hill franchise. However, while internet users commented positively on the surprise arrival of The Short Message, the trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake was widely criticized.
The community had high expectations about the game. On social media, several fans of the series pointed out many problems in the material presented, even questioning whether the game was in the early stages of development.
Furthermore, other internet users suggested that Bloober Team postpone the game’s release for a good few years. According to them, the combat would not be good and needed more “weight and impact” and the graphics would need polishing.
Many of these comments were directed directly at Konami, in a post on https://twitter.com/konami/status/1752850502201823626?s=46&t=PVa8x1ejY29R0bb8va35XQ. Another point questioned by players was the need to release a trailer focusing on action, as the game would focus more on psychological horror.
Check out some of the main reactions to the remake trailer below:
The year is 2007, Silent Hill is handed over to a developer with a bad track record. The year is 2012, Silent Hill is handed over to a developer with a bad track record. The year is 2024, Silent Hill is handed over to a developer with a bad track record.
They turned Silent Hill 2 into a remake of Resident Evil. I’m crying.
My reaction after seeing the trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake.
Original SH2 looked so good in its day. The remake looks terrible.
SH2 Remake should have gone in the opposite direction with its combat. If you go in the direction of RE, you will be compared. I have a feeling that SH2 Remake will end up being a poor man’s RE2, not as intense and satisfying, but with just enough action to lose the horror.
The fact that anyone thought we needed a “combat reveal” for the Silent Hill 2 remake is cause for concern.
The remake is in development for PS5. There is no scheduled release date yet.
