Xiaomi announced on Wednesday night (31) the arrival of the Redmi Note 13 line in Brazil, in an event accompanied by Canaltech directly from Bogotá, Colombia. There are three models that officially arrive in our country, including the Redmi Note 13 4G, the Redmi Note 13 5G and the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, with prices starting at R$1,999 and a free headset during the launch period.

The devices were presented on the global market in mid-January, and around 15 days later they arrived on national soil, reinforcing Xiaomi’s increasing commitment not only to Brazil but to the Latin American market as a whole. They leave the factory with Android 13 under MIUI 14, but will be updated “soon” to Android 14 under the new HyperOS interface.

Two models were left out of the launch in Brazil: the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G and the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. The first does not make much sense for our market due to the price charged which already invades that of 5G models, while the second would have a very high cost in the country due to all the charges involved in official imports, being close to the value charged for top options. line.

“It’s no surprise that the Redmi Note line is Xiaomi’s best-selling line around the world. The devices carry features that a good portion of the public is looking for, often found in high-end smartphones. Our expectations are the best possible with the arrival of these new devices in Brazil, which already has many enthusiasts to have this iconic experience.”— Thiago Araripe, Marketing Manager at Xiaomi Brazil

Redmi Note 13 4G

Focused on those who want a good mid-range cell phone but are not yet convinced that they need support for 5G networks, the Redmi Note 13 4G has a different look from the rest of the line, with its three rear cameras positioned directly on the panel, and not joined together in a module.

Despite this, other points follow the pattern adopted by Xiaomi in members of the family, such as the flatter sides, the screen with relatively thin edges, the centralized hole at the top of the panel for the selfie camera and the optical fingerprint reader embedded underneath. the display. With the reduction of the edges, it is more compact compared to its predecessor, especially in height.

The Redmi Note 13 4G’s screen has a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate — nothing very different from what we had on its predecessor — and is accompanied by a stereo sound system for greater immersion when watching. watch movies and play games. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

In terms of cameras, the Redmi Note 13 4G arrives with a 108 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) instead of the 50 MP camera used in the 2023 model, which is also supported by an 8 MP ultrawide and a third 2 MP macro camera. Despite not having a telephoto lens, the device allows zoom with crop on the sensor for an “almost lossless” approximation of up to 3x. The front camera is now 16 MP, compared to 13 MP on its predecessor.

To cover the entire set, Xiaomi maintained the Snapdragon 685 used in the Redmi Note 12 4G as the platform for the Redmi Note 13 4G, being a chipset made in 6 nm with an octa-core CPU announced in early 2023 — it presents similar performance to the Helio G99 present in the Galaxy A15 4G, also recently arrived in Brazil. The component is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

In terms of battery, we also had no change, with a capacity of 5,000 mAh and a 33 W recharge that should fill half the charge in 30 minutes. The device also has Android 13 under the new MIUI 14 interface, infrared emitter to control other electronics, P2 connector for headphones, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5.

Redmi Note 13 5G

The Redmi Note 13 5G has many points in common with its 4G version, but it brings some specific cuts so as not to increase the final price too much. The biggest difference seen visually is in the rear camera module, where the three sensors and the LED flash are joined by a frame. Furthermore, it leaves aside the fingerprint reader under the screen, to include the sensor integrated into the power button on the right side.

The set of cameras is exactly the same, with a 108 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro and 16 MP front, which represents a good improvement in relation to what was seen on the Redmi Note 12 5G, especially on the replacement of the 48 MP main and 13 MP front sensor.

The screen has similar specifications, with AMOLED technology, dimensions of 6.67 inches, Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate — but here the color depth is 10-bit, compared to 8-bit in the 4G model, allowing reproduction of 1 billion tones. Unfortunately, stereo audio was left aside, which will certainly compromise the experience when watching videos and playing games. At least the panel gains more protection, coming with Gorilla Glass 5.

To justify the higher price, the Redmi Note 13 5G features MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080 platform, which in addition to supporting 5G networks also delivers considerably higher overall performance compared to the Snapdragon 685, including gains of around 60% in benchmarks. The octa-core chip is manufactured using a 6 nm process, and works in conjunction with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

Closing the package we have the 5,000 mAh battery with 33 W recharge, Android 13 under the new MIUI 14 interface, infrared emitter to control other electronics, P2 connector for headphones, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 5.

Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G

The most complete of the family to arrive in Brazil, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G stands out for its 200 MP main camera, performance improved by the use of Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and faster 67 W charging.

Visually it is almost identical to the Redmi Note 13 5G, but its fingerprint reader integrated into the screen makes the power button on the side slightly smaller. Due to the use of a better sensor in its main camera, it is also possible to notice a slightly larger protrusion in the rear module, which remains square in shape.

As stated, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G arrives with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 as a performance platform, being the first in its category with a chip manufactured in 4 nm. The octa-core set delivers gains of around 40% compared to the Redmi Note 13 5G component in benchmarks, and is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

The Qualcomm chipset helps deal with the new 200 MP sensor with optical and electronic stabilization (OIS and EIS) used by Xiaomi in the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, which promises to bring above-average quality to the category in photos and videos. The sensor continues to be supported by an 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro, while the front has 16 MP — points in common with its predecessor Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G.

On screen we also had improvements, even if discreet. The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G arrives with a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and a more intense peak brightness of 1,800 nits, enabling even more comfortable use outdoors. Stereo sound is present, as is the P2 headphone port and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Finally, the 5,100 mAh battery supports 67 W recharges, which promise to completely fill the tank in 46 minutes, while a quick charge of 16 minutes would be enough to make the battery go from 0 to 50%.
