As anticipated by rumors, Death Stranding 2 was presented in a trailer with gameplay footage at State of Play this Wednesday, which also confirmed the rumor about the subtitle, On The Beach.
Like a typical Kojima game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is full of oddities that will certainly engage fans in discovering their meanings for the next few weeks. We can see, among many things, the return of characters like Fragile, who now uses mechanical hands attached to his face as if it were a mask, and the villain Higgs, playing a more stylish version of the Joker.
The protagonist Sam has not changed physically compared to the first game, but he will have many new resources to carry out his mission, including vehicles, weapons and gadgets. The most curious of them is a mascot similar to a ventriloquist’s dummy, which seems to have great potential for comedy.
The story of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will take Sam to other regions of the planet beyond the United Cities of America, connecting Mexico and other remnants of civilization to the chiral network.
“Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond UCA,” says the trailer description. “Sam – with companions by his side – sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world surrounded by otherworldly enemies, obstacles, and a haunting question: should we have connected?”
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released for PS5 on an undefined date in 2025.
