Cyberpunk 2077 gains mode that prioritizes the use of P-Cores on hybrid CPUs

Version 2.0 of Cyberpunk 2077 continues to receive adjustments. The newest update (patch 2.11) brings numerous fixes for the console and PC versions. One of them is optimizations in the use of hybrid cores present in recent generations of Intel Core CPUs.

There are several improvements, one of which says the following:

“Added a Hybrid CPU Usage setting, which can be found under Gameplay>Performance. It can be configured to ‘Automatic’ (let the operating system automatically decide how to distribute tasks between cores), or ‘Prioritize P-Cores’ (prioritizes performance cores)”.

If the Cyberpunk 2077 player does not make any changes to the settings, it will be set to automatic by default.

Along with this specific change for PC, there are also optimizations that improved the performance of AMD Radeon RX Vega GPUs, which have difficulty running the game at 1080p with maximum graphics preset.

Intel’s hybrid cores were introduced with the 12th generation (Alder Lake) of processors, with efficient cores and those focused on performance.

Some games even had problems with this architecture. One of them was Atlas Fallen, released in August last year. According to TechPowerUp tests at the time, the game showed considerable drops in performance when the efficient cores were activated.

According to the website, the use of efficient cores in the game was quite unusual, with more load distributed on them than on the performance cores, which should be working harder.

This means that the game was not aware of these cores, in a way, or the division of the hybrid architecture, requiring optimization by the developers.

So, from now on, if you own one of the 12th generation, 13th generation (Raptor Lake), 14th generation (Raptor Lake Refresh) processors, or even have a notebook equipped with Ultra Core 100 mobile CPUs, you should perform better in Cyberpunk 2077.
