Fromthis Tuesday (14), the Brazilian users of Google Wallet are the first in the world to have access to a new function that makes it possible to make payments with registered cards by reading the QR Code on the machines.
According to Google, This new feature seeks to democratize access to digital forms of payment onlinedecorate smartphones with the operating system Android without NFC technology capable of making transactions with credit and debit cards.
O Payment using the QR Code in Google Wallet will work with debit and credit cards from most Brazilian banks and with brands from the country’s main card networks, such as Elo, Mastercard and Visa.
Furthermore, the functionality is available at points of sale that use card machines from companies such as Cielo, Getnet and Rede (from Itaú Unibanco). Other companies that provide this type of service may receive support in the future.
The function was designed by Google’s global engineering team and the Brazil was chosen by the company for the preliminary launch because A significant number of the country’s smartphones are not equipped with NFC, as surveys indicate.
Data from IDC consultancy shows that 60% of Android smartphones sold in Brazil in the last three years do not support NFC. Furthermore, only 25% of Brazilians usually make contactless payments with their mobile devices.

How to pay with QR Code in Google Wallet
First of all, you need to download the applicationGoogle Wallet (link available below), add a credit or debit card and complete the validation step in the bank app. Several institutions already have integration with Google’s payment method.
No longerAt payment time, simply ask the retailer to generate a QR Code for payment with the card. When the dynamic code appears on the machine’s screen, just open Google Wallet and select the QR Code payment option on the home screen.

Then, just point the camera at the QR Code and wait for it to be read. The next step is to check the payment details on your cell phone and confirm the transaction. Proof of the transaction will remain in Google Wallet and will also be issued by the machine.
Payments with the QR Code can be made in cash or in installments, and the Authentication of the purchase, using a password or biometrics, may be required depending on the card issuer and the value of the transaction and cell phone unlocking will always be requested first.
