Sony has published the classic monthly report of the most downloaded PS5 and PS4 games for the month of October 2023 on the PlayStation Store. After a long drought of exclusives, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the title with the most downloads in Europe and the USA, but what draws us here is other interesting information.
After Insomniac Games’ title, on the podium of both PS5 regional rankings we find Assassin’s Creed Mirage, while EA Sports FC 24 also stands out, which is not so obvious for the North American market, where it came in fourth place, just below the inevitable Madden NFL 24.
The result that can generate discussion is that Alan Wake 2: although it is ranked fifth in Europe, in fact is outside the top ten in the US, placed in 11th position.
It’s true that it was released practically at the end of the month, but a better result was desirablealso considering that it was only distributed in digital format, so you cannot count on sales in physical format.
In the same way, Baldur’s Gate 3 also demonstrates a notable drop compared to the previous month in which it came in second place, finishing twelfth in the US/Canada ranking and eighth in the European ranking, also present only in digital format on PS5.
BGS 3 really doesn’t seem to have been very successful on the PS5, far from the results on Steam, showing itself to be what it really is: a niche game. While Alan Wake 2 was successful with high Metacritic scores, that doesn’t mean it guarantees big sales, which was the case here.
