Call of Duty is one of the most important franchises in gaming and entertainment in general. For this reason, it was one of the key parts of the legal process for Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, as international regulatory bodies expressed fears about possible exclusivity for the Xbox ecosystems. Meanwhile, PlayStation platforms have been receiving exclusive content from the latest titles for years.

In case you didn’t know, Activision and Sony have had an agreement since 2015 that allows content like cosmetic packs, game modes, and more Call of Duty perks to arrive early on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Likewise, the agreement advertising makes the marketing campaign revolve around Sony consoles.

According to reports, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be the last game in the series to have exclusive content for Sony consoles. Meanwhile, people who play CoD: Modern Warfare II and CoD: Warzone on Xbox and PC can now access a special skin that was exclusive to PlayStation for a year.

We are talking about Oni Operator Pack, a special pack that includes an operator and a special weapon blueprint. Originally, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players who pre-ordered the game were the only ones who were able to get it at no extra cost.

The timed exclusivity for this content lasted for a year, so Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II fans playing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S can get it starting October 27, 2023. It’s important to note that these items are available on Microsoft platforms because the exclusivity period has ended, so this event is not related to the Activision Blizzard purchase.

Although the acquisition has been finalized and the company responsible for the franchise is already under the Xbox umbrella, CoD: Modern Warfare III will have exclusive content on PlayStation. We’re talking about the Lockpick Operator Pack, a package that includes Operator Elodie Micheaux, the American Gothic SMG submachine gun and the Starry Knife.

During his participation in the brand’s official podcast, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, confirmed that Microsoft’s goal is for launch parity across all platforms. So, it seems that exclusive content will be a thing of the past. I don’t understand, the best way to enjoy this is through Game Pass.
