CD Projekt Red revealed yesterday the main news that the next generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have and, of course, comparisons are already circulating the internet. The Cycu1 channel, which usually brings game comparisons, posted the trailer presented by CDPR, which was running on a Xbox Series X in performance mode, next to the game running on the PC at maximum 4K with a GeForce RTX 3080.
The most noticeable change is in the game’s lighting. But, it is worth remembering that this is a comparison that cannot accurately portray the two sides when exploring the open world, since The Witcher 3 has a dynamic climate, which is cloudy and it rains, and then the sky is clear, but it gives us an idea.
But when we look at the cutscenes side by side, this change is easier to see, since the whole situation is the same on both sides (with the exception of Geralt’s clothing). The new version even has a simple but cool detail at 3:36 of the video, with Geralt’s wolf necklace swinging with movement.
On the other hand, it seems that the new version lags behind the original in some very specific moments, such as 3:47, which shows more details of the Wild Hunt knight in the original PC version. In this situation, it is quite noticeable to see the low quality of the textures in the next-gen version, but we are talking about one or two frames, it is worth remembering.
CDPR makes it clear that it is still working on the adjustments of the new version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and should reveal more about the news a little before the launch that happens on the day December 14th.
Some of the news of the new version of The Witcher 3
The free update will not only bring graphical improvements, especially in console versions that will also run the game at 60 FPS in performance mode. The version will also have changes in the gameplay, such as a new camera positioning, in addition to the controls and user interface.
The studio is incorporating some mods from the community, as well as creating their own mods. A photo mode will now be available in the game. Previously, it was only possible to take a photo with camera manipulation on the PC through the NVIDIA Ansel tool.
Speaking of PC, the new version of The Witcher 3 will have a new graphics mode (Ultra+) that will further raise the quality of the game on the platform that it shone the most. To lighten the burden of new graphics on GPUs, the game will support NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Both the PC and PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, through quality mode (4K/30 FPS) will have effects via ray tracing.
