Roy Nissany became the third driver to receive a ban in the 2022 Formula 2 season, this Sunday (4), in the Netherlands. The Israeli DAMS, who was left hanging at the beginning of the championship, beat the 12 points in the wallet in a picturesque incident in the second race in Zandvoort.
It’s just that Nissany decided to tangle with David Beckmann during the safety-car period. Yes, the Israeli decided to fight for a position when the race was neutralized. There were two more points in the portfolio, reaching 13. Thus, Roy is out of the Italian GP and, when he returns, he will return with 1 in next year’s account.
“Car #16 (Nissany) decided it was ahead of #24 (Beckmann) when the safety car came in and then started accelerating to stay ahead. behind the safety car and that is dangerous, walking side by side during the safety car,” the FIA penalty statement said.

The fact is that Nissany hit Beckmann, who later nailed Marino Sato’s backside. Beckmann was also punished, but he is still far from 12 points, after all, he didn’t even start all year.
With a long record of exotic punishments, Nissany is out at Monza, but DAMS has yet to announce who will pair up with Ayumu Iwasa. The Israeli is the third to have the feat of being banned from a stage. Before him, Belgian Amaury Cordeel and Briton Olli Caldwell were also heavily sanctioned.
Nissany is only 17th in the Formula 2 season standings with 18 points earned, 96 less than Iwasa.
Formula 2 returns next week, with the Italian stage at Monza. The two races take place between the 10th and 11th of September.
