Cyril Gane is looking for his revenge against Francis Ngannou, but has already declared that it will not pursue the clash. In a post-event press conference, the Frenchman was open to fighting for the interim heavyweight belt (up to 120.2kg.), while the Cameroonian still hasn’t decided on his future.
“I don’t know when that will happen. I don’t think anyone is quite sure when he’s going to make a comeback. I don’t know if my next fight can be for the interim belt, I don’t know when he’ll come back, if he’ll stay in the division. I don’t know what will happen. But I can say that I have my eye on the belt”, said Gane.
Ciryl also avoids adopting ‘trash talk’ to provoke Francis. He recalled a recent meeting with the champion and highlighted his respect for the opponent’s achievements, but promises to come back better in an eventual rematch.
“I spoke to him while waiting at the weigh-in and he wished me good luck for today. So all I have is respect. I know he is always looking for his evolution. I don’t know if you’ll have a better path than mine. But if tomorrow I have a rematch, I hope I have better luck,” he concluded.
Known for its mobility in the Octagon, Cyril Gane did Tai Tuivasa as yet another victim. First in the 120.2kg ranking, he is behind only Francis Ngannou. In his record, he has 11 triumphs and one setback in MMA.
