Matheusinho was very excited with a goal at Independencia

The final goal in America’s 2-0 victory over Coritiba, on Saturday night, at Independencia, for the Brazilian Championship, could result in a barbecue for the attacking midfielder Matheusinho. He swung Coxa’s nets after completing a beautiful cross by Danilo Avelar with his head.

At the celebration, Matheusinho left pointing to the bench, imitating a barbecue man. After the game, he explained that the gesture was aimed at Wellington Paulista.

“Wellington Paulista. In the split, I scored a header. In the concentration, I said: ‘Paulista, I’m going to score a header and you’ll have to buy me a barbecue’. And it was said and done,” said the attacking midfielder.

Matheusinho also highlighted the good phase of America, undefeated in the return of the Brazilian Championship – four victories and two draws. The player pointed out that Coelho’s goal is to return to Libertadores next year.

“We are working towards this, to get as close to the top as possible, to stay among the first, to win a Libertadores, God willing. I’m sure this group will bring great joy to the American fans and we will be able to fulfill our goal,” he added.

With the victory, America reached 35 points in the Brazilian Championship. The alviverde team overtook Santos and took eighth place in the classification.
