Vasco’s fate as a visitor continues. This Saturday, against 15th-placed Brusque (who was on a streak of three consecutive defeats), the team lost 1-0 and returned home for the sixth consecutive time in this Série B without a single point for Rio de Janeiro. At least the distance to fifth place is still four points, as Londrina lost in the round. Of the evils, the lesser.

Best moments: Brusque 1 x 0 Vasco for the 28th round of the Brasileirão Serie B
+ Performances: Quintero’s hand seals defeat; Fábio Gomes is in debt
There are already six consecutive defeats playing away from home: Sampaio Corrêa, Vila Nova, Ponte Preta, CSA, Bahia and now Brusque. During this period, Vasco still lost points in São Januário with draws against Ituano and Chapecoense. The team can not engage in a good sequence of results and draws a final straight of Series B, at least, distressing.
It is worth remembering: the next game is against Grêmio, in Porto Alegre.

At Augusto Bauer, coach Emílio Faro selected Vasco without surprises, with Matheus Ribeiro replacing the suspended Léo Matos and Fábio Gomes making his debut as a starter in the attack. The team’s strategy in the match was to take advantage of the presence of the 1.92m centre-forward, either with the cone in direct calls or in crosses inside the area.
But the plan had little effect. Once again Vasco had difficulty reaching the opposing goal: the first shot towards the goal only came in the 34th minute, in a weak shot by Yuri Lara from outside the area. The team could not hold the ball in attack. Attention was drawn to the fact that Fábio Gomes, well marked by Brusque’s defense duo, won very few from the top.
Unable to attack, the team also showed defensive deficiencies, especially on the right side, where Bahia had already built its victory two rounds ago, at Fonte Nova. Matheus Ribeiro gave his sector a lot of space: it was behind his back that Alex Ruan built the home team’s goal play. Fernandinho received inside the area and kicked Quintero in the arm, who was reckless inside the area.

Vasco even scored the equalizer in the ninth minute of the second half, with Alex Teixeira finishing from inside the area after a pass from Matheus Ribeiro. But the referee, after an eternity, annulled the bid accusing Vasco’s shirt 7’s hand touch. It was a bath of cold water in the spark of reaction of the visitors.
Although he ended the first half being pressured and threatening little, Vasco only moved in the 20th minute of the second stage: Paulo Victor and Danilo Boza entered in the places of Edimar and Matheus Ribeiro, respectively. At the press conference, Emílio Faro explained that he took a while to move because he wanted to give the team time to make the league. He also criticized the state of Augusto Bauer’s lawn, which was in fact bad – Marlon Gomes was the one who suffered the most and slipped at least twice.
From there to the end, Vasco bet his chips even more on the aerial ball. Anderson Conceição became a forward in the final stretch and went to the area. And it was he who participated in the goal in the 42nd minute, deflecting it with his head at the first post, but Alex Teixeira, again he, was in an offside position. It was not this time that shirt 7 scored his first goal since returning to the club. And not even this time that Vasco scored again away from home.
