Swiss fighter makes history and wins first UFC fight in France – 09/03/2022

The UFC’s debut in France, after the legalization of MMA in the European country in 2020, started with everything. In the inaugural fight of the card of the edition held in Paris, this Saturday (3), the Swiss Stephanie Egger won the Argentinian Ailin Perez by submission and went down in history by winning the first fight of the Ultimate promoted in French territory.

The match started very busy, with the rookie Argentinian fighter going up in search of a grappling in the first seconds of the fight. The athlete’s strategy – one of the highlights of the pre-event week due to her animation and dance steps – proved to be wrong, since Egger is a specialist in exactly this area of MMA.

The European dominated the first round and, in the second round, already aware of the path he should follow, Egger took advantage of the ground fight to take the opponent’s back and close a rear naked choke with a few seconds left for the end of the stage, forcing Perez giving the three taps of quitting.

With the result, Stephanie Egger recovers from the defeat suffered by the Brazilian Mayra ‘Sheetara’ in her last fight and now has three wins in five performances in the most famous octagon in the world. Argentinian Ailin Perez started her career in the UFC with a setback, but she should have a new opportunity in the organization in the future.
