F1 2022: VERSTAPPEN IS POLE IN THE NETHERLANDS. PÉREZ SPOILS FINAL. DRUGOVICH IN THE RED BULL? | briefing
If it weren’t for Sergio Pérez’s mistake at the end of Q3 this Saturday (3), Lewis Hamilton could start right behind Max Verstappen for the Formula 1 Dutch GP. At least, that’s what the seven-time world champion himself believes.
After losing the rear end of the RB18 in the corner at Zandvoort and spinning, ‘Checo’ not only ended his chances, but also all the other drivers who had not yet slotted their respective final laps into the standings at Zandvoort. One of them? Hamilton.
“I genuinely feel good. I’m really happy that the car finally felt alive this weekend. Getting through Q1, Q2, being just a little bit behind Red Bull… the feeling is great. (Performance) really gave me a lot. hope that we could fight for the front row, but the yellow flag at the end was a little unfortunate for us. It happens, it’s part of motorsport”, pointed out the Briton.

Happy for the improved performance of the W13 and Mercedes in Holland, Hamilton put his confidence in a good race for the German team this Sunday.
“We closed the gap, somehow, with the pace of one lap. I don’t really understand how, but it’s ok. I hope that means we’ll be close in the race too. If we can do it, it’s going to be fantastic. If we can compete with these guys and battle with the three in front of me, it will be an incredible experience.”
