Started this Wednesday (31), the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra Worlds 17 2022 in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Brazilian team present has 10 athletes, among them the two-time Olympic champions Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze. The current ranking leaders won five medals in World Cup editions, the last one being bronze. in Mussanah, Oman, in 2021.

At the opening of the championship, three regattas were held in 49erFX and the Brazilian duo ended in 6th, 17th and 4th. In 2022, Martine and Kahena are having a very good year, with gold medals in Hyères Olympic Weekin France and European of Aarhus, in Denmark. In addition to the silver medal in the 51st edition of the SAR Princess Sofia Trophyin Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

”It’s the most important championship of the year for us, despite not qualifying for the Olympics yet. New athletes entered this new cycle. They are more prepared for the weight of the class and had a very fast evolution and leveraged by the amount of information we already have about the class”, Martine Grael told CBVela.

in the category 49er, Brazil’s representatives are Dante Bianchi and Thomas Lowbeerand the two-time Pan American champions Marco Grael and Gabriel Borges. With only one race in the day, Dante and Thomas were in 50th, and Marco and Gabriel in 39th.

At Nacra 17, with only one race, the duo Samuel Albrecht and Gabriela Nicolino started the competition in 16th position, one ahead of João Bulhões and Marina Arndt.
