Since the official launch for Brazil, in the second half of this month of August, the 2022 Qatar World Cup sticker album has caught the attention of enthusiasts of this type of collection. And, once again, one of the most commented points was the value of each package (which contains 5 stickers), sold at R$4.

The 100% increase compared to the last edition of the event (the envelope price was R$2 in 2018) generated repercussions. But Brazilians aren’t the only ones paying this price to complete the album with the world’s biggest stars. In other countries, the cost of the figurines is very similar.

Cup sticker pack prices

Country/Region local value Approximate conversion to Brazilian real (in BRL)
Argentina 150 Argentine pesos 2.70 or 5.60 *
Bolivia 6 Bolivians 4.50
Colombia 3500 Colombian pesos 4.10
Chile 750 Chilean pesos 4.30
Ecuador 0.9 dollar 4.60
Members of the European Union 1 euro 5.15
Mexico 18 mexican pesos 4.60
Paraguay 5000 guaranis 3.75
Peru 3 Peruvian soles 4.05
UK 0.9 pound 6.00
Uruguay 40 Uruguayan pesos 5.00
Venezuela 1 5.15

Argentina has two values due to an internal factor in its foreign exchange market.

In addition to the official price of the Argentine peso stipulated by the government, there is a parallel market in which local money is worth much less compared to foreign currencies. It’s called the “blue” exchange. At the official price, the peso is worth around the real, but at the same time, R$1 buys more than 55 pesos. Therefore, a Brazilian who exchanged his reais at an exchange house in Buenos Aires, for example, would pay the equivalent of R$2.70 for an envelope of stickers.

Based on the values presented in the table, to complete the album in Paraguay, the minimum value (134 packages, that is, 670 stickers) would be R$502.50; while in the UK it would be R$804.00 (considering a very lucky collector who doesn’t get any repeats).

The passion for figurines is not restricted to Brazil. Children and adults from other countries such as Argentina, Bolivia and much of Europe are also excited about the collections every 4 years.

In Switzerland, for example, there is a special edition that has a hardcover album, 100 sticker envelopes and a decorated box that can be bought for 125 Swiss francs, that is, about 660 reais.

In some South American countries, the stickers, envelopes and the outside of the album have variations in orange color, as is the case in Argentina and Uruguay, for example.
