The 2009 Brawn GP season, which resulted in two titles, will have a documentary to call its own. Jenson Button, who lifted the Drivers’ Championship trophy that year, confirmed the production — titled “Brawn: The One Pound Formula 1 Team“(Brawn: the £1 Formula 1 teamin Portuguese translation).

The documentary, made by a streaming platform, will be divided into four parts and will feature the narration of actor Keanu Reeves.

“Exciting news,” Button posted on his social media accounts. “I’ve been working on a four-part series for Disney+ covering the incredible 2009 Formula 1 season. You can’t miss it,” added the former driver.

Brawn was born months after the announcement of Honda’s departure from F1, in November 2008. At the time, the Japanese automaker had a factory team, but announced that it would end activities in the category as a result of the global financial crisis.

Ross Brawn, former team principal and now Formula 1’s technical director, bought the car’s estate, signed an engine supply contract with Mercedes and kept the drivers: Button and Rubens Barrichello. All on the eve of the start of the category’s pre-season.

The team’s performance was surprising and startled the competition, which soon went after possible irregularities with the model made by Brawn. Still, it was impossible to stop the squad’s supremacy, especially in the first part of the season.

With Button, they won six victories in the first seven races, and the Englishman only managed the advantage until winning the title at the Brazilian GP, held on October 18, 2009. Barrichello, who won the last Brazilian victories in F1 so far, closed the third championship. Brawn was sold to Mercedes in late 2009.
