Defeated by Palestino in the fourth round of Group E, last Tuesday (7/5), Flamengo got into trouble in the fight to qualify for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.

The red-black club is in third place in the group and has only a 36.7% chance of advancing to the next stage, according to calculations by the UFMG Mathematics Department.

Flamengo has four points from four games played in the Libertadores. With nine points, Bolivar leads Group E, followed by Palestino, with six. Millonarios is at the bottom, with two points.

Scenarios for Flamengo’s classification in the Libertadores

To advance to the round of 16, Flamengo does not depend solely on its own results.

Even if they win the remaining two games, the Rio team will depend on the group leaders stumbling.

In the fifth round, Flamengo hosts Bolivar at Maracanã. The game will be next Wednesday (15/5), at 9:30 pm. The match could mark Urubu’s early elimination in the event of a draw or defeat in Rio de Janeiro.

In the sixth and final round, Fla will face Millonarios, also at Maracanã, on May 28th, at 9:30 pm.

Current Libertadores Group E standings

  1. Bolívar: 9 points, 3 games, +6 goal difference
  2. Palestinian: 6 points, 4 games, -3 goal difference
  3. Flamengo: 4 points, 4 games, 0 goal difference
  4. Millionarios: 1 point, 3 games, -3 goal difference
