Cruzeiro’s idol, Alex could return to Türkiye to lead Antalyaspor. Fenerbahçe’s historic name, the young coach, 46 years old, is on the European club’s radar for next season. Currently in office, coach Sergen Yalçin is under enormous pressure from the fans due to the poor sequence of results.
In the last few hours, the president of Antalyaspor, Sinan Boztepe, confirmed his interest in hiring the Brazilian coach. According to Turkish journalist Salim Manav, Alex traveled to the city of Antalya at the beginning of the week, with the aim of adjusting details of the contract.
With three rounds remaining in the Turkish Championship, Antalyaspor occupies 10th place, with 45 points. The leader of the national league is Galatasaray, with 96 points, six more than second-placed Fenerbahçe.

Alex’s career as a coach
In early 2023, Alex was fired from Avaí after 18 games. In charge of Leão, he won six wins, four draws and eight defeats. Previously, the Triple Crown champion with Cruzeiro, in 2003, had coached São Paulo’s under-20 category.
In Florianópolis, Alex’s Avaí was eliminated by Criciúma in the Campeonato Catarinense and by Retrô-PE in the 1st phase of the Copa do Brasil.
Last year, the Cruzeiro idol spent a period at Toca da Raposa II, in Belo Horizonte, following Pepa’s work and did a short internship with Abel Ferreira at Palmeiras.
Before Pepa was hired, “Talento Azul” was one of those interviewed by Ronaldo’s group to take on the role, which did not happen.
