Tande used social media this Saturday (27) to thank the universe for the new opportunity he had after suffering a heart attack. This weekend, the Olympic volleyball champion was also caught by photographers exercising at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
“14 days later, I’m back to my game of life! I just thank you, my God, and all the doctors (angels)”, wrote Tande. “Thank you, my God, for giving me another cause to carry wherever I go,” he added.
Tande was discharged on April 17 after suffering a heart attack and discovering that one of the arteries in his heart was 98% blocked. He described symptoms of malaise, such as palpitations and shortness of breath, as well as ear pain.
Alexandre Ramos Samuel, known as Tande, was born in Resende, on March 20, 1970, and competed in three Olympics for Brazil, winning the gold medal at the Barcelona Games in 1992. He was also champion of the Volleyball World League in 1993 and played Beach volleyball.
After retiring as an athlete, he became a commentator and presenter of Globo sports programs, as well as a motivational speaker. In 2019, he released a book in which he tells his professional journey, “Life is a game”.
