Jhonata Diniz stars in massacre and shines with knockout in debut at UFC Las Vegas 91

Debutant in the largest MMA organization in the world, Jonathan Diniz had the debut of dreams. Present on the main card of UFC Las Vegas 91, held this Saturday (27), the Brazilian overcame scares in the first round against Austen Lane, but staged a turnaround in style. Famous for his knockout power, the athlete brutalized his rival in the second round, leaving his opponent ‘blacked out’ on the canvas.

In addition to winning on his debut, Diniz has even more reasons to celebrate. The heavyweight (up to 120.2 kg.) extended his unbeaten record in professional MMA, now adding seven consecutive victories, all on the fast track.

The fight started with Lane taking the initiative with a jab. Diniz sought to find the best distance to launch his attacks. The advantage remained with Lane and Jhonata was frustrated in his attempts to stay on his feet. In the final seconds, Austen attacked with blows from below, but there was no more time.

In the second round, Jhonata risked a sequence of rights. Immediately, Lane shortened and went back to looking for a takedown. Diniz defended himself and shook his opponent with a cross. Austen tried to take him down again, but the Brazilian defended himself well. Halfway through the stage, the North American showed signs of fatigue and Jhonata tried to take advantage. The Tupiniquim landed clean rights to his opponent’s face, which he then knocked out.

Promise for the future of the featherweight division, David Onama He won a match by scoring through emotion. Opponent of Jonathan Pearce, the athlete was scared, but came out on top after three rounds. After 15 minutes, the fighter was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.

At 29 years old, Onama has his second consecutive victory in the UFC. The athlete continues his climb towards the top 15 in the division led by Ilia Topuria.

Frustrated by David, Jonathan suffers a second setback in a row. In his last fight, the fighter had been defeated by Joanderson Tubarão.

New member of the welterweight division (up to 77.1kg.), Uros Medic put on a show in his debut in the category. Veteran’s opponent Tim Meansthe athlete performed a ‘surprise knockout’ and knocked out his rival in the first round.

With victory, Medic returns to the path of victory. In his last commitment, the athlete ended up submitted by Myktybek Orolbai.

At 40 years old, Tim Means was once again surpassed in the company. Now, the athlete has accumulated four setbacks in the last five challenges.
