UFC Vegas 85, this Saturday, has an important middleweight duel and four Brazilians in action; look

As UFC Vegas 85, this Saturday (3), Ultimate returns to action after a week without events and fans can prepare for two months of great action in the octagon. There will be 11 weeks of events every Saturday with fights that will define the champions of at least two divisions.

The great sequence of events will culminate in UFC 300, on April 13, in Las Vegas (USA), the UFC’s three hundredth numbered event, which will have a historic card including Brazilians Charles do Bronx, Jéssica Bate-Estaca, Diego Lopes and Marina Rodriguez.

The action begins this Saturday, at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, with UFC Vegas 85, which will be broadcast in full on UFC Fight Pass. In the main fight, a duel between the Top 15 of the middleweight division: number 8, Roman Dolidzefaces the number 11, Nassourdine Imavov.

Dolidze (12w-2l) is looking for another knockout in his first UFC main fight. Known for his submissions, Dolidze rose through the middleweight ranks with consecutive knockouts over Jack Hermansson, Phil Hawes and Kyle Daukaus. He now aims to start his 2024 campaign with an important victory and enter the Top 5 of the division, which has just gained a new champion, Dricus du Plessis, crowned at UFC 297 at the end of January.

Imavov (12w-4l) returns to the octagon planning to restart his run for the title. A complete fighter, who won nine of his 12 victories by knockout or submission, he scored notable triumphs over Joaquin Buckley, Edmen Shahbazyan and Ian Heinisch. Imavov now aims to become the first person to submit Dolidze in the UFC.

Renato Moicano in action at UFC Vegas 85 co-main event

With an eye on another victory in the lightweight division, Renato Moicano returns to the octagon this Saturday. In the co-main fight of UFC Vegas 85, Moicano, currently number 13 in the rankings, faces number 15, Drew Dober. A submission specialist, Moicano (17w-5d-1e) intends to build on the momentum of his last victory, in November 2022, and defend his position in the rankings. A Jiu-Jitsu black belt, 10 of his 17 victories were by submission, including triumphs over Alexander Hernandez and Cub Swanson.

On the other side of the Octagon there will be a knockout artist. Dober (27w-12d-1NC) is looking to add to his record for most knockouts in UFC lightweight history. Among the division’s most exciting athletes, Dober’s last seven wins have been by knockout. He now plans to achieve the biggest victory of his career and insert himself into the conversation for a possible title shot in the future.

Three other athletes represent Brazil in the event

In addition to Renato Moicano, the Brazilian flag will be represented in two more fights at UFC Vegas 85. In a Brazil x Brazil duel, number 7 in the flyweight rankings, Viviane Araujo (12w-5d), seeks to stop the streak of 10 consecutive victories of Natalia Silva (16v-5d-1e). Also in flyweight, the São Paulo native Luana “Dread” Carolina (9v-4d) faces Julija Stoliarenko (11v-7d-2e).
