Newey enjoys working simultaneously in F1 and with Hypercar

Red Bull Technical Director Adrian Newey is currently immersed in two distinct projects. In addition to improving the RB20, the car that Max Verstappen will use in his quest for a fourth Formula 1 title, the Briton is also dedicating his talents to the RB17, the hypercar that Red Bull is developing. In an interview with the ‘Talking Bull’ podcast, Newey talked about how multitasking has been for him.

“I don’t mind multitasking. It’s something I appreciate,” Newey said. “I don’t know if my wife would agree that I’m good at this.”

The year 2021 was particularly challenging for the Red Bull CTO, with an intense battle against Mercedes for the title. Newey acknowledges that his workload has been intense due to the development of the RB18 and the fundamental research for the new Formula 1 rules in 2022.

“There was a great development program and a concentrated effort to win the championship. And of course, we had the fundamental research for an entirely new set of rules in F1 in 2022, which became RB18. It was a very busy year, with many hours of work. But I appreciate the variety. And I think that’s perhaps the most important thing,” concluded Newey.

With his passion for diverse challenges, Newey demonstrates how he manages to balance projects in F1 and the hypercar segment, providing a unique perspective on the multifaceted world of high-performance automotive.
