Mateus Isaac finishes in 31st place in the IQFoil World Championship

On the fourth and final day of the IQFoil World Championship, held in Lanzarote, Spain, Brazilian Mateus Isaac finished his campaign in 31st place overall. Among women, the best placed in Brazil was Giovanna Prada, who ended up in 62nd place.

At the end of the event, Mateus competed in the last five races of the gold flotilla. In the first race, the Brazilian had a great performance and came in seventh place. He continued to stand out in the competition and achieved two more placements in the top-20: 11th and 18th places. However, afterwards, the athlete from São Paulo did not maintain his good momentum and finished in 43rd and 35th positions. In total, Isaac finished with 270 accumulated points. Further down, compatriot Guilherme Plentz finished his career in 112th.

In the women’s tournament at the IQFoil World Cup, Brazilians Giovanna Prada and Bruna Martinelli also ended their participation this Friday (2). The first, in fact, was the one who had the best performance among women, finishing in 62nd place. Thus, on the last day, Giovanna achieved second place in the final opportunity of the silver flotilla, behind only the Chinese Wuniu Ayu. Bruna, in turn, was in 77th position, with 483 points.

Furthermore, in the men’s competition, Dutchman Luuc Van Opzeeland finished in the lead and qualified for the medal race, the flotilla that will define the tournament podium. The others classified were the Frenchmen Louis Pignolet, Nicolas Goyard and Pouliquen Yun, the Italian Nicolo Renna, the Dutchman Kiran Badloe, the Israeli Tom Reuveny, the Spanish Nacho Baltasar, the Polish Paweł Tarnowski and the Australian Grae Morris. Finally, in the women’s group, the athletes who advanced in the event were: Emma Wilson (Great Britain), Pilar Lamadrid (Spain), Sara Wennekes (Netherlands), Marta Maggetti (Italy), Maja Dziarnowska (Poland), Mariana Aguilar ( Mexico), Maya Gysler (Norway), Katy Spychakov, Shahar Tibi and Sharon Kantor (all from Israel).
