In Coritiba’s first defeat of the season, against Azuriz, 1-0, the coach Guto Ferreira complained about the refereeing of the match at the Os Pioneiros Stadium, in Pato Branco. According to the coach, the referee did not award a penalty to full-back Natanael in the first half and “helped” the home team’s victory.

“Azuriz was competent within their proposal. But they had help from the referee in a very clear move against Natanael. He said that the Azuriz player touched the ball, but he was the only one who saw it. The advantage we could have had and didn’t have, we still injured the player. So we had two losses. This does not take away from Azuriz’s competence”, said the coach in a press conference after the game.

In the 45th minute of the first stage, Natanael was hit in the area and asked for a penalty. Referee Leonardo Ferreira Lima followed the game, which generated complaints on the field and on the club’s social media.

Coxa was unable to break through the Pato Branco team’s defense, even with more ball possession and more chances. Without Edu, who is treating a thigh injury, and with Robson on the bench, the starting attack was formed by Figueiredo, Wesley Pomba and Fabrício Daniel. The trio failed to perform well.

“It’s a big learning experience for us. It’s a team in formation. When we won 4-0 against Operário, everything wasn’t right and now everything isn’t wrong. We’re not happy, but we can’t be desperate and throw the team’s mentality down,” said Guto.

“The problem is blocked shots. We blocked one and they blocked 12. They managed to score and we couldn’t score. When we managed to break through, the goalkeeper did well,” he explained.

According to the coach, center forward Edu should return to the field soon, as he did not have a serious injury. Even so, Alviverde is looking for a 9 in the market to replace Slimani, who left the club this week.

“We have more people arriving. Let’s look for options within the squad. Edu is ready to be back right away”, said the coach.

Coxa returns to the field on Sunday (4), against Andraus, at Couto Pereira, at 6:30 pm, for the sixth round of Paranaense. The opponent occupies seventh place in the table, with six points.
