Bahia will start its campaign at Nordestão against Sport, this Sunday (4), with high expectations.
The tricolor team enters the competition looking to win a title again that they haven’t won since 2021, but, mainly, to erase the stain left by the 2023 campaign, when the team fell in the first phase.
In a press conference, coach Rogério Ceni made his projections for the regional competition and stated that it would be a shame to fall again in the group stage.
“What we absolutely cannot do is stay out in the first phase, it would be a shame. We will compete against other teams from the other group, most of them have already won the competition“.
In 2023, Bahia finished sixth in group B, behind teams such as Ceará, ABC, Náutico, Sergipe and Santa Cruz.
The campaign was marred by crushing defeats to Fortaleza and Sport, as well as a draw against Fluminense do Piauí’s reserve team.
For 2024, the objective is to return to compete for the most important cup in the northeastern region.
Bahia x Sport will debut at 4pm on Sunday (4), at Fonte Nova.
