Always Ready prepares stadium at more than 4 thousand meters of altitude for Libertadores
– A very historic day for the entire city of El Alto, Conmebol sent an email approving the Villa Ingenio stadium – announced the club’s president, Andrés Costa, during an event with mayor Eva Copa, in the same location.
Last Monday, Conmebol officials inspected the stadium. The fact that the location is more than 4,000 meters above sea level was not an impediment to the arena hosting international matches.
Among the improvements required are the exchange of synthetic grass for natural grass, a new lighting system and structural works in the parking lot, changing rooms and surroundings of the stadium.
Always Ready, founded in 1933 and returned to the first division in 2019, after 28 years. The club competed in the Libertadores in 1968 and then returned to the tournament in 2021. Since then, it has been in all editions, in 2022 and 2023, and has always sent its games to La Paz.
In 2024, the club launched the campaign “La Copa se plays AT HOME”, to obtain approval for its stadium. Always Ready made improvements to the arena and should open it in the Libertadores on the 20th, when they host Sporting Cristal, in the second preliminary phase of the tournament.
If they advance, Always Ready will face Puerto Cabello or Defensor in the fight for a place in the Libertadores group stage.
Villa Ingenio is the highest altitude stadium in Bolivia, followed by those in the city of Potosí (3,900 meters), Oruro (3,700 meters) and La Paz (3,650 meters).
