Lucas Villalba is expected in Belo Horizonte to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract with Cruzeiro. The 29-year-old defender arrives on loan from Argentinos Juniors, in a business model that includes a purchase option.
Raposa will pay 400 thousand dollars (R$2 million) for Villalba’s one-year loan. If it wants to remain permanently with the athlete, the celestial board will have to invest another 800 thousand dollars (R$4 million) at the end of 2024.
How was the negotiation between Cruzeiro and Argentinos Juniors
The Cruzeiro board’s interest in hiring Villalba was anticipated by On Attack on January 20th. This Monday (29/1), the president of Argentinos Juniors gave an interview to the portal and confirmed the progress of the negotiations. The final negotiation values were initially announced by Argentine journalist Franco Figallo.
The idea of playing for Cruzeiro was very popular with Villalba, who was also targeted by Racing, Colo-Colo and a team from the United States. In recent weeks, the defender was training separately from the Argentinos Juniors squad. The defender was removed from Bicho Colorado’s activities before the heavenly offer because he asked to move abroad.
Raposa already has five defenders in the squad
Nicolás Larcamón has five defenders available in Cruzeiro’s squad: Zé Ivaldo, Neris, Ruan Santos, João Marcelo and homegrown silverware Ruan Santos and Pedrão. The options for left back are Marlon and Kaiki.
