It looks like Charles Leclerc is about to have a new teammate at Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton is all but confirmed to make the switch to the Italian team from the 2025 Formula 1 season onwards. During a press conference last year, Leclerc was asked about the possibility of having Hamilton as a teammate, and his responses were notably positive.

During 2023, rumors about Hamilton’s possible arrival at Ferrari circulated for a long period. Due to these rumors, a possible transfer of the Briton was naturally a much talked about topic, and at that time Leclerc was also asked about the situation.

When asked what he thinks of Hamilton as a teammate, Leclerc replied: “We are in Formula 1 and we love competing against the best. That doesn’t mean that my current teammate Carlos (Sainz) isn’t fast. Carlos is an extremely fast driver.”

Asked then if he would welcome Hamilton to the team with open arms in the event of a possible transfer, Charles said: “If I say ‘yes’, it will make headlines in all the newspapers. Lewis is an incredible driver and has achieved a lot in the sport, so I believe anyone on the grid would love to have him as a teammate. Anyone on the grid would be lucky to have Lewis as a teammate”, concluded the Monegasque in that interview last year. This might be a good start to the relationship, in case Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025 is confirmed.
