Ferrari will have a new driver for 2025. According to the English newspaper Sky Sports, the Italian team signed seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton for the next season, in 2025. The Brit would arrive to replace Carlos Sainz at the Scuderia.

Also according to the portal, Mercedes employees will be informed of the news of the transfer today, before an official announcement.

Hamilton has been at Mercedes since 2013 and has a contract until 2024, with an option to renew for another season. However, according to international vehicles, the 39-year-old driver may forgo the renewal to join the Italian team, if the agreement with Ferrari is confirmed.

Before Sky Sports’ confirmation, the Motorsport website and Spanish newspaper As also reported Ferrari’s interest in Hamilton and stated that the driver would arrive to take over from Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who has a contract until the end of 2024.

Sainz, according to the international press, is already being speculated by other teams such as Audi and Red Bull. Furthermore, Monegasque Charles Leclerc recently renewed his contract with the Scuderia and is not expected to leave the Italian team anytime soon.

Last season, Lewis Hamilton finished in third place, behind champion Max Verstappen and second place Sérgio Pérez, both from Red Bull. The Briton closed 2023 with six podiums in total, but no victories in the 22 races.
