It started in Italy, had an echo in Spain and the news is already spreading around the world that Lewis Hamilton will sign for Ferrari in 2025.
The British driver is expected to replace Carlos Sainz at the Italian team. The Spaniard ends his contract with Ferrari in December and has not yet renewed, less than two weeks before the presentation of the new car. Therefore, Sainz is already being linked with a move to another team, with Audi, Mercedes, Alpine, Aston Martin and Williams emerging as candidates.
But, returning to Hamilton, the relationship between the driver and Ferrari is already old and there were even negotiations for the paths to join together previously. However, now they appear to be more concrete and the Briton should even use Il Cavallino Rampante next year.
After two less successful seasons at Mercedes, which failed to present a car at Red Bull’s level or compete with Max Verstappen, Hamilton is looking for a new challenge and has the opportunity at Ferrari to relaunch his career and win his eighth world title.
The 39-year-old driver has a contract with Mercedes until 2025, but the contract must include a termination clause.
Hamilton stood out at McLaren and has been at Mercedes for a decade, where he assumed the hegemony of Formula 1, having even surpassed Michael Schumacher’s record.
