After two consecutive defeats in the Women’s Superliga, Fluminense won again. This Wednesday (31), the Rio team defeated Sesi Bauru at Ginásio Hebraica, in Rio de Janeiro, by 3 sets to 1 (25/20, 22/25, 25/15 and 25/22). With the result, Flu recorded its eighth victory and provisionally took sixth place.

The opposing tricolor Ariane was the biggest scorer of the match, scoring 24 points. However, the award for best player of the match went to Elina, who came off the bench and scored 19 points for Flu. On the losing side, Maiara Basso finished as the highlight by knocking down 20 balls on the rival court.

Before this Thursday’s match, Fluminense had accumulated a sequence of negative results. In the last two rounds of the Women’s Superliga, Flu was defeated in both by Barueri and Pinheiros. Despite this, between these two games, the Rio team won a place in the semi-finals of the Copa Brasil by beating Osasco at José Liberatti.

Furthermore, the positive result also makes Fluminense reach 22 points and move up to sixth place. The position in the table is provisional, as Barueri comes right after with 20 and still plays in this round against Osasco on Friday (2). Meanwhile, Sesi Bauru is at risk of leaving the G4 in the event of Praia Clube’s victory against Brasília this Saturday (3).
