Mogi Basquete won its first victory in NBB 2023/24 this Monday (20). Playing with the support of their fans at Ginásio Professor Hugo Ramos, the São Paulo team beat Botafogo 86 to 81, in a duel that was full of excitement until the end. Among the other games of the day, the home team also won: São Paulo beat Pato Basquete, while Bauru beat União Corinthians.

In a duel between the last two placed in the NBB, Mogi came out on top. The game was marked by a lot of balance, especially in the first half, which ended with a score of 38 to 34 for the Botafoguenses. From the end of the third period, Mogi grew and started to take control of the match. The team opened up a good lead and had an 11-point lead with five minutes to go.

However, Botafogo sped up the game and managed to cut the gap to just two points, with one minute remaining. Despite this, Mogi remained ahead, closing the score at 86 to 81 and achieving its first victory in the NBB. The team, which also has six defeats, left the bottom of the competition and is in 18th. Meanwhile, Botafogo suffered its eighth setback in the league, now appearing in 17th place.

Six Mogi players scored more than ten points in the match against Botafogo. Highlight for Shamell, who scored 17. Ware and Lucas scored 14, while Lipa scored 12 and Lessa and Pastor, 11. On the Botafogo side, five athletes also scored double digits in the score, with Thornton scoring 20 points.

Other games of the day

Among the two other games of the night, São Paulo achieved its second consecutive victory by defeating Pato Basquete, 89 to 67, at Ginásio do Morumbi. The team from Paraná was ahead on the scoreboard throughout the first half, but Tricolor was devastating in the second half. Miller scored 24 points, while Miller scored 22. On the Pato side, Materan scored 16 points.

Inside, Bauru ended its negative sequence in the NBB with a victory against União Corinthians by 95 to 67. It was Dragão’s fifth victory in the competition, which also has four victories.
