De La Cruz wants to play for Flamengo in 2024

Flamengo has a deal underway with Nicolás de la Cruz, from River Plate (ARG). However, Rubro-Negro still needs to reach an agreement with the Argentine team to sign the contract. Firstly, the Buenos Aires club would only agree to the sale with payment in cash, however, it has now agreed to discuss the payment of the termination fine in installments.

According to the neighboring country’s portal ‘TyC Sports’, River Plate understands that it is unlikely they will refuse a proposal worth 16 million dollars (R$77.6 million). Furthermore, according to the website, if Flamengo’s offer reaches the values desired by Argentines, there is now the possibility of negotiating the payment method.

DE LA CRUZ’S WILL WEIGHS

Also according to the Argentine publication, De la Cruz made it clear to the River Plate board that he wants to transfer to Flamengo. After all, the player understands that he has already accomplished his mission in Buenos Aires, after more than six years at the club. The negotiation almost had a happy ending in the middle of the year, but, due to the Libertadores dispute, the Argentines were unable to ‘reinforce a rival’ directly for the title.

De la Cruz has a contract with River Plate until December 2025, however, the club only owns 50% of the Uruguayan’s transfer. The other half, however, belongs to Liverpool (URU), which does not intend to hinder the midfielder’s negotiations with Flamengo.

NEXT TO ARRASCAETA

While negotiations with Flamengo are not concluded, De la Cruz will have the chance to ‘exchange passes’ with a possible new clubmate this Tuesday (21). The midfielder is with Arrascaeta in Montevideo, where Uruguay takes the field in the World Cup qualifiers, against Bolivia. The match takes place at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Centenário Stadium, for the sixth round of the dispute.
