When asked about the consequences of the incident and the end of his time in the category, Nelsinho stated that there was nothing that could be done for him and his father, Nelson Piquet;
“There was nothing to do. They said they were going to break the contract, we said they couldn’t and they said ‘then go to court if you want’. But justice there was something that would take time and wouldn’t do any good. So we said ‘ok then, if you want to play like that then we’ll…’. When they wanted to break the contract, I talked about what they had done the previous year and played dumb. Then I took the evidence, took it to the FIA and they penalized Flavio [Briatore] and Pat Symonds”, he added.
