Brasilia DF) – Three Brazilian players managed to pass the Republic Open qualifier. The experienced Fernando Romboli, Wilson Leite and Pedro Sakamoto won their games this Monday and join the other eight national athletes in the main draw.

Romboli, 34 years old and who today prioritizes the doubles circuit, won a duel of three tiebreaks against 22-year-old São Paulo native Mateus Alves, 442nd in the ranking, by 7/6 (9-7), 6/7 (3-7 ) and 7/6 (7-5) in 2h50 of departure. According to ATP statistics, the game had 51 aces, 27 for Alves and 24 for Romboli.

Wilson Leite, 32 years old from Rio and ranked 627th, also had a good performance on serve to beat Chilean Gonzalo Lama, ranked 502nd, and fired 11 aces in the 7/6 (12-10) and 7/5 victory in 2h29 departure.

Pedro Sakamoto beat Argentine Juan Pablo Paz by 7/6 (8-6) and 6/4. The experienced 30-year-old São Paulo native, ranked 377th, made six aces, lost just one service game and managed two breaks.

Also in the final round of qualifying, São Paulo’s Marcelo Zormann was beaten by the 19-year-old Peruvian Gonzalo Bueno, 414th in the ranking, by double 6/4. Zormann, 27 years old and 753rd in the ATP, will play doubles alongside Romboli.
