Vasco faces Cruzeiro on Wednesday (22/11), in Belo Horizonte, for Brasileirão 2023
The striker had been with the Brazilian under-23 team, in São Paulo, since Monday last week. Pec was called up for a period of training at CT Joaquim Grava, from Corinthians, with the team preparing for the Pre-Olympics, which will be held in January, in Venezuela.
To have the player against Cruzeiro, Vasco reached an agreement with the CBF, which brought forward Pec’s release from the Olympic team’s training. Pec returned to Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
It was the first time that coach Ramon Menezes called up Gabriel Pec. The two worked together at Vasco in 2020. The club understands that Gabriel Pec’s call-up was deserved and therefore did not request a recall, but the direct confrontation against Cruzeiro is treated as a priority.
In addition to Pec, Vasco had its captain Medel called up by the Chilean team, which plays this Tuesday. The defender, however, received his third yellow card last Thursday, against Paraguay, and was absent in Chile. With this, he anticipated his return to Rio and could face Cruzeiro.
