In his presentation press conference, Cruzeiro’s new coach, Paulo Autuori, answered the question about the use of the celestial base. One of the most questioned points by Cruzeiro fans was answered by Autuori, who made a point of highlighting the importance of preserving the evolution process of young athletes.
According to the Raposa commander, it is necessary to observe the boys’ evolutionary path so that no training stage can be ‘skipped’.
“In football, I have seen moments when fans and the press ask young people for opportunities in difficult times regarding results. Then, players come in and don’t do well in two, three games. Do you know how many players like these I’ve seen discarded? And then they spread to other clubs. And they ask: ‘Why isn’t the player there?’
Autuori also commented on the demands from fans and the press regarding the use of Crias da Toca.
“If you stop to see how Cruzeiro’s youth category was and you follow Cruzeiro, in relation to what they went through with the under-17 and under-20 categories, I’m not talking about the victories and titles they had against important opponents. The idea when I arrived, from fans and journalists, was that Cruzeiro’s base had no one”, said the coach.
The biggest demand from Cruzeiro fans is for greater use of players like Fernando, Japa, Henrique and Robert, champions of the Copa do Brasil under-20 and the Campeonato Mineiro in the category.
