The long-awaited film by actor Brad Pitt, set in the world of Formula 1, accumulates immense losses before it is even released. With the provisional title of ‘Apex’, the film directed by filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and produced by Pitt continues without a possible release date.
The film will tell the story of a retired driver who returns to the track to mentor a young talent newly arrived in Formula 1. In addition to Pitt, the film will feature a special appearance by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, also the producer of the work.
Pitt’s character-driven young talent is played by actor Damson Idris. The work also has Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies in its cast.
Winner of the 2020 Oscar for best supporting actor, for his work in ‘Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood’ (2019), Pitt has been constantly seen behind the scenes at Formula 1 races over the past few years.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, due to the recently ended strike by the Actors Union, filming for the film was interrupted for 118 days. Due to the stoppage, for technical reasons, several scenes already recorded will have to be reshot.
The English daily’s source explained: “This has all been a nightmare for Brad and his team. There were several events that disrupted filming over the years, expenses became astronomical with filming scenes at high speed.”
“Some sponsors of the film changed, so some scenes were simply discarded. It’s sad for Brad and Lewis, they have this project like a baby. The other producers are not happy either, but there is nothing anyone can do.”
Pitt’s official representatives have not yet commented on the report talking about the film’s problems.
