The gaucho from Santa Maria is 43 years old and started his career at São Paulo-RS, but it was at Athletico-PR that he experienced his best phase on the edge of the field. He was state champion with team B and achieved Athletico’s first international title, when he lifted the cup in the Sudamericana in 2018, and the Copa do Brasil in 2019.

In 2021 it was his turn to command Grêmio, in the year in which the club from Rio Grande do Sul began its journey to Série B the following year. In Ceará, he had an irregular campaign and locker room problems, when he criticized a player for not making fouls to avoid losing points at Cartola FC. When the team was disqualified in Cearense last year, he took the blame, shielded the players and most of the time defended rationality.

Botafogo players return this Wednesday for their first activity with the new commander. The club is second in the Brasileirão, with 60 points. The team has one game less than first-placed Palmeiras, who have 62 points. In other words, Alvinegro only depends on themselves to be champions.
